After Porchetta, drop by Butter Lane for a unique cupcake experience. In a city where cupcake shops seem to outnumber McDonald’s, this one stands away from the crowd. For one, the cake consistency is similar to angel food cake. Second, help yourself to free samples of all their different frostings and even bites of their actually cupcakes! The girl behind the counter is super friendly and helpful, and like me, she doesn’t like chocolate.

You’ll have to think carefully of what to order, though I guess you can always order a dozen and call it a night. First, choose between American or French buttercream for your frosting. Every other cupcake shop uses diabetes inducing American frosting, which is basically sugar and butter. French buttercream is made with sugar and whipped egg yolks, resulting in a smooth, meringue like texture. Next choose the frosting flavor. Then its vanilla or chocolate for the cake, though I’d highly recommend the banana. Don’t trust me? Ask to try the damn thing for free!
All in all, a unique experience but not my favorite cupcake. That honor goes to the pistachio cupcake at Sugar Sweet Sunshine.

Any place that offers free samples could potentially be run out of business by me. I could eat them out of their home! And you don’t like chocolate? Gasp!

I’ll confess that I don’t actually read your blog. I just look at the pictures.

I agree with Der… I like the pics
But, also, I just wanted to point out that you not only dislike chocolate, you dislike sweets…
Saying you dislike chocolate means nothing when you don’t like sweets.
I, on the other hand am a die hard sweet fanatic.. but… I don’t like chocolate…
