The Lobster Shack in North Beach San Francisco, closed on February 7, 2009, was a dear member of the San Francisco North Beach community. It has served me unforgettable lunches (with BYOB!) and kept me company when I was forced to work weekends in an office building nearby. The Lobster Shack, two weeks from turning two years old, is survived by its original branch in Redwood City which still serves up the most amazing lobster rolls on the left coast.

Your lobster rolls were always made to order and created with the freshest ingredients. Each roll overflowed with luscious sweet lobster meat mixed with the perfect amount of mayo to keep it sticking together. The bread was a treat in itself. I’m not sure what type of bread they used but it was definitely a cross between sourdough and white bread. Cut to the perfect thickness, the chewy, slightly sweet bread shined while showcasing the lobster.

Farewell my lobster.
