Wow, this is huge news. Having lived my entire life in the bay area and three years in San Francisco, I can say there there is NO pizza joint on the same level as Una Pizza in SF (i’m not including chicago-style).  Slice over at Serious Eats reported that Anthony Mangieri will open his new shop in March 2010. [Serious Eats - Una Pizza Napoletana]

SFers, welcome to the world of serious pizza.  Here’s a quote from a recent NY Times piece

“Food-obsessed San Franciscans should be receptive to Mr. Mangieri’s take on Neapolitan pizza. His dough rises overnight, he stretches all the crusts himself and his menu is austere — four pizzas, no sides or desserts….In this era, when restaurants are branded and reproduced, Mr. Mangieri could open more locations. But for him, the pizzaiolo is the pizzeria. There is only one of him, and only one restaurant.”
